Discover Ramadan: Embracing Diversity and Community Unity
Hockwell Ring Masjid hosted a vibrant Discover Ramadan event on Saturday, January 30th, 2024, celebrating the rich diversity of our community and extending a warm welcome to individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of faith.
The event provided a unique opportunity for guests to experience the warmth of shared meals as we broke fast together. Nearly 60 to 70 guests from various walks of life and cultures in our inclusive community gathered for this special occasion.
Highlights of the event included the beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by our young Hafiz Ibrahim, who memorised the Quran at the age of 15. The chairman of the Luton Islamic Community Forum warmly welcomed the guests to the mosque, emphasising our commitment to promoting dialogue and understanding to break down barriers and misconceptions about Islam.
Guests were treated to an informative presentation about Ramadan, delving into the reasons behind and the significance of Muslims fasting during this blessed month. An engaging quiz about Ramadan was also organised, providing a fun and educational experience for all participants. Prizes were awarded to the winning teams, adding to the event’s excitement.
As the time for breaking the fast arrived, everyone gathered to enjoy a delectable buffet catering to vegetarians and non-vegetarians, fostering a sense of community and fellowship among attendees.
Overall, the Discover Ramadan event was a huge success, with guests providing positive feedback and expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn, engage, and celebrate together.
