Rowing in The River Thames for Hockwellring Masjid (Sunday, 9th September 2018)
A Team of volunteers have taken a bold challenge to row down The River Thames from Cookham to Windsor to raise funds for the refurbishment of Hockwell Ring Masjid.
The masjid was set up in March 2008 from a converted Doctors surgery. Within just 10 years the masjid has turned into a hub of community and has a number of projects and activities for the entire community.
Visit My Mosque, The Big Clean Up, Dawah Stalls, Elderly Care Visits, Youth Camps, KIdsinspire are just some of the projects that Hockwelring Masjid is involved in and we have a vision to further these activities in many more areas.
The one thing that has not grown as it should have been is the Masjid premises, although we have made minor alterations over the years to accommodate the additional facilities.
We are now taking on this project with your help In-Sha-Allah to utilise every bit of space in the most efficient way. We are not able to extend the masjid but through renovation and re-modelling we are planning to increase pray spaces for both brothers and sisters, create dedicated class rooms and much needed maintenance work to fix the electrical and audio visual aspects of the building.
Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.) mentioned in a hadith reported by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, "Whosoever builds a masjid for Allah (SWT) , Allah (SWT) will reward him similar to it in paradise." This is good news for an investment that is guaranteed by Allah (SWT).
